Company Capital is currently seeking someone to fill the position of Underwriter/Risk Analysis Representative.

Primary Responsibility:

Coordinating and underwriting Merchant Cash Advance applications. Working with Merchants, Account Managers and Head office personnel you will gather required information, evaluate and verify applications. As part of the evaluation team you will support applications, determine the degree of risk and make recommendations. You will also provide ongoing analysis and reporting of individual and portfolio performance


-Assemble, organize and review of merchant’s application, bank statements, processing statements, financial information, lease documents, background and credit checks.
-Conduct interviews with potential clients. Obtain information and adjudicates character and capacity of current business owner.
-Make phone calls to merchant Landlords and other trade references.
-Interpret and analyze financial statements as needed
-Analyze all of the above to reach a pre-approval recommendation to Senior Management
-Monitoring merchant transactions and activity to confirm merchant is performing in order to detect and prevent fraud. Communicate with merchant when they are not. Recommend solutions, encourage compliance and notify the Finance and Administration department. Follow up in writing to meet the terms of contracts and refer to collections as required.
-Weekly, monthly and quarterly performance reporting

The Person

-Minimum of three years of successful work experience as an Underwriter working with small business or commercial customers
-Knowledge of small business financial products
-Superior decision making skills
-Exceptional attention to detail and quality of work
-Superior customer service skills
-Willingness to discuss potentially difficult financial issues with customers
-Proficient multi-tasker with the ability to manage multiple processes at once
-Ability to clearly communicate and explain a decision to upper management and or a customer
-Proficient PC user, including experience with Microsoft Office suite
-Willingness to work flexible hours
-A willingness to positively accept change
-Strong people skills; ability to collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization
-A proven ability to enthusiastically handle a changing work environment, multiple responsibilities and priorities

Preferred Qualifications

-Strong understanding of credit card or merchant processing
-Previous financial services experience
-Previous Small Business Banking experience
-Associates or Bachelor’s degree
